One Button Web Site

(Optional Add-On to Foundation)

For most facilities managers, just thinking about creating a successful facilities intranet site is overwhelming. Not only do you have to hire a group of people to create the site concept, organize all the information and write the code, but the site would need to be maintained and the information updated on a daily basis. This can be a very expensive proposition. Not if you are using Foundation.

Foundation's One Button Web Site module enables anyone to establish a corporate intranet facilities home page in literally a few hours. And as the information in your Foundation database is updated, so is your Foundation Web Site.

With no programming experience, the webmaster  needs only to answer questions and fill in a number of fields. The One Button Web Site automatically composes, with various color and layout schemes, your home page with your corporate logo, a photograph of the building, and your message.

The One Button Web Site is fully customizable. With a click of the mouse, various style schemes which assemble colored backgrounds, button shapes and colors, and sheet compositions are selected. Our special on-screen picture utility allows you to chose among the various photos and graphics which are provided with the program. Or you can use the utility to work with your own scanned-in images.

The One Button Web Site creates a COMPLETE facilities web site. It is not just one long page with lists of information, but many pages, organized with frames in your browser. All of your employees and facilities personnel will find the site invaluable from the first day of use.

Included with the One Button Web Site:

Contact Names:

When employees have a problem, they are not always sure who to call or who can fix their problem. The Contacts page provides a list of facilities personnel to contact and how they can help. Also possible is a photo of the person next to her name. Finding out who can help is a breeze using Foundation's One Button Web Site.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

Answering frequently asked questions such as ``Who do I call to move?", ``How do I get boxes?" or ``Can I bring my favorite chair and what about my phone number?" can take up a lot of time for facilities personnel. All those questions and answers can be added to your FAQ page. With your employees using this site, less time will be spent on the phone answering the same questions and more time can be spent on important projects.

Calendar of Events:

Keeping a calendar of events without Foundation's One Button Web Site can be a laborious task. Changes in events occur, dates change or get canceled and your employees need to be notified every time there is a change (usually by memo or e-mail). Since the calendar is on-line, changes can be made and the information is immediately accessible to your entire company. It's always there and always available.

On-Line Phone Directory:

A company's phone directory is constantly being updated. You can't distribute an updated copy of the phone directory every time there is a change, but the updated information needs to be available to your employees. This is where the One Button Web Site again becomes invaluable.

The On-Line Phone Directory gives your employees direct access to your company's updated phone information. By typing in the last name of an employee, you are able to find the person's phone numbers, room and other pertinent information. The information is always up to date and kept that way by one person one time entering the latest data in one database.

On-line Room Data:

By typing in a room number, access is gained to the current room information: type of room, size, department assigned, equipment, furniture and other room-specific information.

Directions and Maps:

All your employees have access to directions to your site, a map of your office or of the surrounding area. This would be especially useful to new employees or companies with multiple sites.

Service Call Tickets:

Light bulbs burn out, desks need to be moved, spills need to be cleaned. Employees using your new web site will have the ability to initiate on-line service call tickets which are needed to maintain and repair your building. On-line service call tickets can only result in faster response times to your employee's requests and to your earning a great reputation for your department.

Feedback and Comments:

A successful web site cannot be created and maintained without input from those who use it. All employees accessing your new intranet site can submit not only their comments on the site, but also upcoming events, or revisions to their individual room and personnel data. This is a tremendous feature because it involves everyone in helping to keep the Foundation database current and makes your great web site even better.

Additional Links:

You may include links to other sites such as the main corporate page, news sites or other sites that may be helpful to your employees.

Add Your Own Pages:

Since every business is different, additional information and web pages may be needed on your intranet site that aren't included with the One Button Web Site. For example, maybe large blocks of data such as vendor or customer lists which are currently maintained in a spreadsheet could be imported into your web site and updated and used by your employees. Not a problem for Foundation. Whatever your situation, the One Button Web Site is flexible enough to handle it.

Multiple Servers Not Required:

For faster service to your web clients, multiple instances of Foundation can be run simultaneously. Why slow down access time when you can, for example run the Conference Scheduler Data File at the same time as the Room Data Files for two or three sites? If you need a space or usage report which takes time to compile, the server will not slow down because clients can be accessing separate instances of the program. Limited only by your computer's memory. Foundation allows you to simulate multiple servers.

No Dedicated Server Required:

The most amazing part about Foundation's One Button Web Site is that no dedicated server is required. As long as you are using Windows NT Workstation or NT Server, the webmaster can use his own workstation as the web server. This provides a tremendous cost savings over any other method of providing a corporate intranet site.
